Some kitchens just look dated. Others actively get in the way of how you cook and live. These are the five signs we hear most often from clients who are ready to remodel.
1. The layout fights how you actually cook
If the only way to get from the sink to the stove is through somebody else’s workspace, the layout is wrong. Modern kitchens are designed around real flow patterns; older kitchens often weren’t.
2. You’re running out of storage
Counters covered in things that don’t belong on counters. Spice jars on the windowsill. A toaster on top of the microwave. Storage is solvable, often without changing the footprint.
3. The cabinets are tired
Drawers that don’t close, doors that sag, finishes that are wearing through, sticky hinges. If you can’t remember the last time the cabinets were new, they probably aren’t.
4. Appliances are at end of life
If two or more major appliances are 12+ years old, you’re going to be replacing them soon anyway. Doing it as part of a coordinated remodel saves money compared to one-at-a-time replacement.
5. You hate being in the room
This is the one that matters most. Kitchens are where you spend real time. If yours is dragging down everything else about the house, it’s time.
